Project Graduation

Dear CHCCS Families!

Will you help us pull an all-nighter?

One that features inflatables, magicians, casino games, photos, dancing, music, and food.  And all of our CHCCS  graduating seniors?

We are talking about Project Graduation, and we need your help.  Now in its 30th year, Project Graduation is a party for all graduating seniors in our district.  It will take place in person on June 11 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. at the UNC Student Center.

There are three things we want you to know about Project Graduation:

  • Project Graduation provides a safe, fun, and equitable way for ALL graduating Seniors to celebrate in person with fellow classmates.  No one is left out.  And Chapel Hill has recorded zero fatalities on graduation night since Project Grad began in 1992.
  • Project Graduation is NOT just for senior families. We need the help of our entire Chapel Hill community to put on this amazing event.  This is a great way for all of us – district families and community businesses – to show our Chapel Hill spirit and tremendous pride in our graduates.
  • Project Graduation is a great way to support students who have lost so much due to Covid over the last two years.

So what can you do to help?

  • Make a gift here: Donate to Project Graduation.  We need to raise $70,000 for the event.  Project Graduation is a 501c3 organization separate from the CHCCS school district , though we work closely together, and gifts are tax deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines.
  • Connect us to local businesses who might want to support Project Graduation.  Please contact Project Graduation Fundraising Chair Tina CoyneSmith at if you can make a connection.
  • When asked later in the year, volunteer to help with the event itself.

One of the things we love best about living in Chapel Hill and Carrboro is our strong history of citizens, businesses, schools, and organizations supporting each other as we work and play together.  We ask you to celebrate our seniors and share in this moment of community pride and joy by supporting Project Graduation.  If you have any questions, you can contact us at:
